The Heartland Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club will occasionally take on rescue cases into our network of members and breed stewards. Our dedication to this breed means that when a Stafford in our area is in need, we can step in to offer assistance, resources, and take surrenders of purebred Staffordshire Bull Terriers on a case-by-case basis to help support and supplement the rescue resources offered by the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of America.
HSBTC member Elisabet Holmvig-Johnson is the chair of our rescue program.
If you own a Stafford and are in need of help, or know of a Stafford in need of rescue assistance, please reach out to us at rescue@heartlandsbtc.com or get in touch with any HSBTC member.
This special girl entered HSBTC custody in July 2025 because her loving owners recognized that they didn't have the resources to give her the care she needed. She entered her foster home with HSBTC and rescue committee member Sadie Miller.
As it turns out, she was already home!
Happy ADOPTION DAY (August 2nd, 2025) to Moonpig, who has a new forever home with her foster family, Sadie, Stan, and Ned the Stafford. They just couldn't help but fall in love with her, and it was pretty clear that she was already EXACTLY where she needed to be.
Introducing: Hearland's Pork Side of the Moon "Moonpig". Watch out for this special girl as she explores her sporty side, and look for her at upcoming club events!
This was the first rescue effort for HSBTC, and so much of the process was just our dedicated group of Staffordshire Bull Terrier lovers flying by the seat of our pants to help a local Stafford in need, and we'd like to show our appreciation for everyone involved.
THANK YOU to Moonpig's former family, who loved her dearly but bravely recognized that they were unable to provide the care she needed. We know it eas a heart-wrenching decision for you to surrender her, but we're so proud and honored that you made the choice and trusted us to place her into our care.
THANK YOU to all the club members and the board who immediately leapt into action to pool resources and hit the road when it became clear that we as a club needed to step in.
THANK YOU to Sadie & family for welcoming her so lovingly and completely, and for your steadfast commitment to her enrichment and wellbeing.
THANK YOU to all the dog lovers who donated to her care. We're happy to report that her skin has healed, her coat is GLEAMING, she's up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives, and she is recovering beautifully from her spay surgery.
THANK YOU to the veterinary teams who heard that we had a dog in need over a holiday week, and moved mountains to fit her into their schedule.
It truly takes a village, and all of us at the Heartland Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club are so proud and honored to have the village that we do.
